District Governor, Jeff Coleman spoke to the Rotary Club of Yoakum during his annual visit on August 6th. Jeff announced the Foundation Gala in Georgetown on February 6th as well as the District Conference which will take place the last weekend in April at the YO Ranch in Kerrville. This conference will be family reunion themed offering time for Rotarians to spend time chatting over domino games in addition to attending training opportunities and celebrating the Rotary year.

Jeff also introduced this year’s district service project, Project Tumaini to the club.
Jeff’s goal for Project Tumaini is to bring clean water to up to 20 schools in Tanzania’s Makalama District through the use of WaterPoint systems. Schoolchildren in this region of Tanzania face illness and school absenteeism due to lack of clean water. These systems, filter the water then treat it with a UV light to disinfect the water so it is safe to drink. Jeff and District 5870 are fundraising to add additional WaterPoint systems that will be delivered in October of 2027.
